Text Work sample Year 6 HASS F-6: Australia’s Federation

This work sample demonstrates evidence of student learning in relation to aspects of the achievement standards for Year 6 HASS F-6. The primary purpose for the work sample is to demonstrate the standard, so the focus is on what is evident in the sample not how it was created. The sample is an authentic representation of student work and may contain errors such as spelling mistakes and other inaccuracies. In this work sample students: • explain the roles of significant people, events and ideas that led to Australian Federation, democracy and citizenship • explain the key institutions, roles and responsibilities of Australia’s levels of government, and democratic values and beliefs • locate, collect and organise information and data from a range of primary and secondary sources • evaluate evidence to draw conclusions • select and organise ideas and findings from sources, and use a range of relevant terms and conventions, to present descriptions and explanations
